East Coast Railway won the Bipin Singh Memorial All-India Bipin Singh Memorial Volleyball Tournament, defeating Kokkata Electricity Board 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-10) in the exciting final at Killa Maidan in Cuttack today.
The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 15,000, while the runners-up took home Rs 10,000. Cuttack Collector Kishore Kumar Mohanty gave away the trophy and cash prizes. Sponsors Driems Power Real Estate managing director Smruti Ranjan Mohanty and Orissa Volleyball Association secretary K K Pandey were present at the closing function.
Altogether six teams participated in the tournament, which was organised by Cuttack District Athletic Association. The runners-up team`s Somnath Maiti received a Honda Stone motorcycle as the winner of the `Player of the Tournament`. Orissa Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera was felicitate on the occasion.
